Sometime near the end of last year I came across a video of a designer explaining the importance of contracts and how designers have a lot more power in situations than we give ourselves credit for. Brandon and I have been working on a new web based application for Realtors over the past year or so. We are focusing our efforts on making it the simplest Realtor application around, so we decided to name her "Picnic".

I came across a pretty cool link that uses HTML5 to recreate images into what you are seeing up above. The program uses @,# and % to make the image. You can drag images into the browser and away she goes... you can also change the font face, size, amount used, etc. Try doing that Mr. Flash, you heavy running, resource using POS.

So I decided I need to either start working for the government on their design projects, or I need to raise my prices... The recent release of the "Food Plate" taking over the "Food Pyramid" cost a reported $2,000,000! Where the hell do they get off? I understand that kind of money is a drop in the hat, but did we forget about the debt this country is in? It all starts to make so much sense when they drop that kind of money on something so simple. Imagine the price tags on things that actually make a difference.

Ever since I bought a home I have been on the lookout for house numbers that utilize great typography.  I have yet to find the right ones but am confident they will pop-up one of these days.

 

I came across the above image this morning and it sparked the hunt once again! How great is that architecture? If I don't find the right ones soon, I may just need to rebuild the front of the house...
